The Paper Packers Sporting Clays Club sponsored the 18th Annual Shoot for the Heart event on April 20, 2017 which hosted 362 shooters. The Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi manages the Shoot for the Heart fund. Approximately 400 people attended the event which is a fund raiser for the Northwest Community College School of Nursing. 10 nursing students received scholarships this year from the event.
Keith Wilson, founder of Shoot for the Heart, started the event which has become an annual event because of his own experience. Keith underwent major cardiac surgery in 1999 and this event defined his life and caused him to want to help others.
