Andrew Sweatt, 2014 graduate of Hernando High School, is the recipient of the Cindy Lipscomb Scholarship offered through the DeSoto County Prayer Council. The scholarship endowment is managed through the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi. On hand for the presentation of the $1,000 scholarship were Rev. Chip Hatcher, First Presbyterian Church of Hernando and co-founder of the Prayer Council, community foundation president Tom Pittman, Sweatt, and Prayer Council member Wayne Spell. The scholarship is given on an annual basis to a DeSoto County high school senior in a public or private school.
