Tim and Samone Holston grew up on a dirt road in the “suburbs” of Itta Bena, fortunate to have a Box Project sponsor family from Massachusetts. When he was an early teen, the sponsor sent Tim two books-the first books that he had ever owned. They made a deep impression, as he recalled at the opening of The Box Project’s 50th Anniversary Exhibit at Delta State. Now, after two master’s degrees, he is completing his Ph.D. degree at the University of Mississippi in computer science. His is just one wonderful story among the 851 rural poor families linked with sponsor families in 47 states by the Foundation’s Box Project, changing thousands of lives, one family at a time.
