Sophie Hathaway, MS, CHES
Director of the Maddox Center for Outreach and Engagement
Sophie received her undergraduate degrees in Public Health and Health Promotion from American University and her Master’s degree in Global Health and Population Studies from Harvard University. She is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). Prior to becoming the Director of Outreach and Engagement, Sophie served as the Harvard Law School Mississippi Delta Fellow, working with the Delta Directions Consortium and the Community Foundation. Sophie’s work focuses on rural food systems, community capacity building, nonprofit technical assistance, and cultivating equitable institutional-community partnerships. All of her work is centered around using data-driven and community-led programs to create a thriving future for rural communities in Mississippi.
