New Scholarship Fund

The Theron Long Scholarship Fund has been established through the Community Foundation.
Theron Long passed away in May. Theron worked for DeSoto County Schools 44 years as a coach, teacher and principal. He was inducted into the Mississippi coaches Hall of Fame. In 1991, Coach Long was chosen Mississippi secondary School Principal of the Year. Theron was a role model and mentor to many young people.
Recipients of this scholarship shall be seniors of Hernando High School with at least 3.0 GPA, intending to pursue a major in Education in college and have demonstrated that they have overcome obstacles on their path to success. Nominations for this scholarship shall come from a teacher at Hernando High School. An advisory committee appointed by the Foundation’s Board of Directors shall select the recipients. Call the Community Foundation today to denote to this worthwhile Fund that will help in the education of Mississippi’s youth. This  Scholarship will carry on the legacy of Theron Long’s heart for teachers and students.
